Timber trading and forestry has kept the Segers family busy for four generations

In the year 1920, great-grandfather Pierre started wood processing from his farm in rural Kinrooi by supplying wood to the mining industry then still present. Gradually, he passed on the taste of the forest and wood to his children by including them by his side and in his way of life from childhood. As a result, grandfather Jacques expanded operations after the war, not only were various wood products exported to surrounding countries, the import of tropical woods from Africa also came about.

Quality and sustainable wood is priority

Markets change, fashion trends adapt and, as a result, the use and processing of wood also keeps moving and evolving. Father Jaak understood that a constant factor does remain as a starting point in this, and that is the raw material wood, the tree, the forest. From this idea, the current company European Forestry management or EFM for short came into being. The focus was immediately placed on preparing from forestry and timber harvesting the qualitatively right timber in the desired ranges and thus supplying it for further woodworking.

EFM grows with the market

Global demand for timber continued to grow and partly because of this, the off-take was directly distributed and diversified by a national and international market. The knowledge of the wood and the correct, proper handling with it were the 2 pillars passed on to sons Peter & John. In this, Peter has the presence in the forest and takes the first quality subdivisions in supervision. John has focused on commercial and logistics distributions. As a result, EFM now enjoys a local and global reputation in correct supply of quality wood.
